What kind of music do you like, Johnny?

“…punk, all kinds of electronic music - the kinds that don’t fit in at a frat boy dance club or at the Village Station, classic and “alt-” country, rockabilly, psychobilly, folk, 80s, hip-hop that says something, ya know, not that silly crunk shit, umm…Ween, jazz and free-jazz, funk, blues, electro-pop. Mixtapes and compilations. I really dig re-issue labels putting out rare vintage stuff, Tom Waits, post-rock, experimental stuff, noise rock, avant stuff like Sun City Girls, droning metal - and other metal if they’re not growling, Pink Floyd, jug bands, harmonicas, accordions, steel guitar, cellos, Casios, vocals in german. And of course, anything filthy and fuckin’ rock-n-roll! … I’m open-minded to everything though. i like foreign language stuff, funny stuff like Cars Can Be Blue, even a little pop sometimes…”

“Well, there’s always Dave Matthews. And i’m really not feelin’ this pop-punk-power-pop shit that’s big with the kids right now. Really bad hip-hop, generic indie rock that doesn’t have something special about it… ya know, something. Hour-long field recordings and DJ-what’s-his-name’s fuckin’ dance tracks. Fuckin’ Bob Seger, damn. Oh, and man, Pearl Jam really sucks.”

“Computers and gadgets, film - horror and zombies flicks in particular, and documentaries. Art and graphic design, fashion and sneakers. Drinking and smoking. My ipod. Vulgar or otherwise offensive jokes. Going to shows, getting trashed at a blackjack table. Beaches. Skateboards and bikes. Old volkswagens and hot rods, tattoos, cash and bitches. I hate dumb fuckers on cell phones driving like dicks and people talking in those little headset things. I hate spam. I hate watered down and expensive drinks. Weathermen piss me off. Hugh Grant and Drew Barrymore, Cuba Gooding Jr., Will Smith and Denzel, I hate them. I hate…”
